Hi; I am trouble in designing a close system of stern watertight door, which is for tender garage. I would like to use the hydraulic--pins and handle latchs together to close the door? But I donn't know what type latch is better.
Hello Not quite sure what you mean by handle latches - dogs that swing out of the door as in a manually operated door. I think every hydraulically operated door I've seen has been secured by pins. Its mechanically very simple and easy to set up proximity switches to verify the pin's position. One mistake I have seen is where the tip of the pin has no chamfer - if the door is not well aligned the pin jams against the door rather than slipping into its hole usually resulting in a large bang and bits of metal flying off. Might want to post a photo of exactly what you mean.
I've seen rotational dogs with central hydraulic actuation as well. Instead (actually in addition to the)of a wheel in the middle of the door, they have an arm hooked to a hydraulically driven linear actuator. You pull the pin which engages the traveler to the worm to use the wheel.
