Hi. It's a little early to be asking this but hey, why not plan ahead.
Were going down to FL for the air/sea show in April. We plan on flying into Palm Beach on Wednesday, staying at our house and then running my 50' Bertram down to Ft. Lauderdale on Friday. I need to find a place to keep the boat Friday & Saturday night but I also need to get a hotel for a couple who will be with us.
Carl, you might be able to help. Remember where I met you for the show a couple of years ago? anything close to that bay would work because if it's rough on the ocean, that is where I'll want to anchor.
    Thanks!
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

On hotel accomodations ... I'm leaning toward the Sand's Harbor Inn for you, because it's only a couple of miles north of Ft. Lauderdale. They have dock space, a hotel, a good outside bar along the water and you're walking distance to Houston's across the intracoastal. Best of all, they are relatively inexpensive compared to other marinas in Lauderdale during season. They are located in Pompano Beach if you want to Google them.

Look forward to seeing you for the Air Show. We'll have fenders out and a beer waiting... :)

    Carl

I'm booked at Sands Harbor Resort & Marina. I thought I was doing this too early. The dock master said that it is a very busy weekend, but he would squeeze me into one of the last slips.

    Crew House in Ft. Lauderdale

I can't help you with anchorage but you might want
to check out the Crew Castle. It's the nicest one in
    Ft. Lauderdale. 954 931-8945.

    GuiltFreeGourmet...

It's time for a little guilt. This is the fourth post you've made promoting your crew house. If I can share a little insight with you... we have very few crew onboard YachtForums. Although we have a number of captains, most of our members are yacht owners.

Of the four posts you've made, two of them have been directed to CTDave. I'm not sure why you think the owner of a 50' Bertram is looking to stay at a crew house. If this was a frat house... that's a different story. ;)

    Please refrain from promotional posts.

    Thanks Carl.............
I was wondering why the f.......heck he mentioned "anchorages" vs his place.
I had to go back & see if I actually asked anything about anchorages.
When have you ever heard of a "sporty" looking for an achorage???
    Morons................
Oh! Carl! If I didn't menton it, we are booked & looking forward to the air/sea show! I hope we can get together! I'm sure you won't have a problem with the tuna tower. You'll probably fly the chopper in & out of the struts.
    Dave
ps......Marcus (my X T-man) & I are looking for a little "fun machine". Something in the 28-32' range, 115-125mph. Know of any cats?

Spectre 32 w/Ilmor625s should do nicely. If you want a cabin look at the American Offshore 3100.

Have to agree with Catman... the Spectre 32 would top the list, but not with I/O's. Not even 300X's. I would opt for Opti's. The new 250XS motors are cranking out 270 reliable horsepower with great gas mileage. Of course, these are long shaft motors, so you would need the 2.5 block, short shaft motors. Two of' em would get you close to 90mph. Three of 'em would get you over the century mark. Here's one of the new Spectre's ready to recede the hairline...

That being said, there are few things that better represent a depreciating asset more than performance boats. The market has gone soft and deals are by the dozen. You know the sources... OSO, Scream & Fly, or TraderOnline. No need to buy new, when you can get the same headaches for half the price. This one's been for sale for too long, which means the checkered flag's been lowered and the red flag's been raised?

The new Skater looks interesting... until you look at the price tag. These boats are quickly loosing their bang-for-the-buck appeal. Same goes for Doug Wrights boats, AMD, etc. There's some newcomers to the 30'+ cat market that might be worth looking at. They're trying to get some boats on the water to build the brand, so the first few deals might be give-aways. Can't remember the name now, but ex-offshore racer Goldberg in Miami is producing a new cat. So is long time lake-boat-builder Liberator. They both look good. Have to see which one's survive a stuff to tell. Here's the new Liberator...

Yes the 32 w/trip 250s is a great boat. The 30 is a great buy at $76K. I live 15 minutes from the Liberator shop, have been there and seen their mold work trust me you would not believe it. They paint their hulls dark to hide the 6" chop running down both sponsons. Worst mold work I've ever seen.

I have heard someone in Florida bought the 50' Airborne cat molds. Was that this fellow Goldberg?
