    anyone heard what happened there?

coming back from the Bahamas yesterday afternoon, i heard the USCG broadcasting securités about a 100' MY disabled off Gov Cut. It was towed in later on.

kinda rare for a 100 footer to run out of fuel...

I'd love to know what the salvage bill is going to be on this one.

Did you catch the name? It wasn't "Golden Touch" by chance?

Knowing the boat and the owner, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

It could be just one valve out of place and they can run out of fuel with plenty fuel still on board. I had seen that more than once.

I don't see how it would be a salvage job if it simply ran out of fuel and they anchored and waited for a tow boat (or two). Heck, they could've anchored and dropped the tender in and made a bunch of trips with diesel cans. hehehe

Before we go too far saying an owner didn't carry adequate fuel, do we in fact know that was the cause of the disabling as opposed to clogged filters or a mechanical breakdown?

No. So far it seems no one knows anything. Or at least if they do they are not posting it.

Or it was just another day and another breakdown. Normal boating.
