As far as debates go, the possibility of going DDWFTTW is as long running as they come... LINK Thoughts?
That debate is on the verge of being settled amongst the rational set. The North American Land Sailing Association (NALSA.org) oversaw the testing of the Blackbird this last weekend on the El Mirage lakebed and collected data showing speeds exceeding 3.5x the speed of the wind while it was traveling DDW. After chewing through all the data from the 18 recording sensors on the course, NALSA will be ratifying a record for the vehicle -- expect that record to be over 3x the speed of the wind. www.fasterthanthewind.org
