Just curious about what a high a cruise rpm can be on a 8v53n and fuel burn rate

divide the output hp by 16 and you have 75% load fuel burn for twin engine installation.

I believe they were supposed to be 2800 WOT and 2400 high cruise. Don't know fuel burn.

    Welcome to Yacht Forums.
I guess your boat shopping and doing your homework.
So to help us better answer you question, What is the advertised HP or injector size (tune)?

Even for a natural 8V53, HP varied by tune and injector size.
They were the original Screaming Jimmy so the RPM available was a bit taller than the larger cousin designs (71 & 92).
    Think 283, 327 vs 350&400 SBCs.
In their slightly smaller package, they could put out some torque and HP pretty reliably.

We had just a few customers with the 53s, mostly TIs.
When HP was needed, they still held it back to 1800 to 2000Rpm and planed nicely.
Another 500 RPM (towards WOT) would offer more speed and double the fuel consumption.

My 53 notes were lost a couple of years ago. Sorry I do not have the DDC cut sheets for them.

Please give us more details and we may be able to help more.
Maybe even the sales ad. Amazing how many of our members know the boats on the market.
