I have an all fiberglass exterior on my boat (extensive teak interior) and it looks great when it's clean.
A bit of a neat freak and loved the idea of no wood maintenance on the outside but the white decks do show dirt that is tracked in from the docks, beach and swimming etc.
When we got the boat it came with snap in carpet pieces for the cockpit, sundeck and fly bridge but, beyond being worn, was a pain as any water simply migrated through the carpet and was near impossible to dry.
I've considered fake teak decking but don't want anything that has to be glued down as I may as well then just go with real teak decking - but that would be going the wrong direction - for me. Looked at Vinyl loop matting which might work well for the swim grid/cockpit but don't think it would work on the sundeck with sliding furniture around...
Any suggestions or am I just better off with perpetually cleaning the fiberglass and non-skid?

Sunbrella makes a very thin outdoor carpet that looks like teak that is nice and dries pretty fast, you might want to consider that.

Go to teakcarpet.com. Nice looking carpet simulating teak deck in a variety of colors. I have seen it before on a fly bridge, looked nice. Says you can use snaps or Velcro. Nothing is easier than fiberglass decks.

Thanks all. I'll look into the replacement carpet ideas but the old indoor/outdoor that was in place was more of a pain as it held the water, took a long time to dry and trapped moisture underneath. As bayoubud said, maybe the fiberglass is the best bet...

There are synthetic weave products that I have seen that are very nice which don't absorb water - a very flat material without any pile. I'm guessing a potentially good solution for you as I was considering it for the same reason for an area on a boat I ended up not buying. I had first seen it on Cruisers Yachts which had offered it on new builds and may still so with a bit of research you should be able to find out the brand. The closest I got was considering a product from Corinthian Marine but walked away from the boat before ordering samples. Years ago I was very pleased with carpet I had ordered from Corinthian and they were very good to deal with.

Just ran across another product line you may want to consider - Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl. I have no experience with them but their offerings look very similar to the non-absorbent synthetic weave products I have been seeing on newer boats, sometimes referred to as seagrass carpeting.

    Thanks Cruz.
Both you suggestions are better than the regular indoor/outdoor that came with the boat but both expensive. ($280/yard) Much better idea for the sundeck but I'll need to think it through for a while. In the meantime, my better half is having the interior reupholstered... I guess she got the jump on me!
