Day 3: News From PBIBS 2025

By Day 3 most of the news from the 2025 Palm Beach International Show (PBIBS) had slowed, however, here are a few of the news items that surfaced. Tankoa Yachts decided to release information on the new S520 with renderings and essentially capitalizes on the foundations of the S501 model. Pershing has the GTX116 at the show although this would have been part of the 6-boat display by the Ferretti Group. A 42M sloop from Nautor Swan was unveiled at the show.

Tankoa Yachts took the opportunity to release more information and unveil renders for their new S520 model. For those familiar, the S520 builds on the previous S501 model from the yard. The S501 has seen its latest member (6th hull) the "Rilassata" launched towards the end of 2024. The S520 is physically larger at 52-meters vs the 49.9-meters of the S501. The extra space on the S520 will be automatically felt on the exterior decks where there is plenty of space along with the addition of an infinity pool on the aft lower deck. The fore deck features ample room to store the yacht's two tenders and two PWCs all served by an integrated crane.

Francesco Paszkowski's work is on the exterior as well as in collaboration with Margherita Casprini for the interior design. We have seen this combination duo with the 58-meter "Diamond Binta". The interior on this model exudes sophistication with a palette that showcases light creams offset by darker mixes with burgundy accents for colour-pop. There is also purpose-use of curved surfaces and lines throughout the interior from the furniture pieces to the walls and the inlays homing-in on the curved on circular theme.

The owner's suite on the main deck forward position is its own enclave featuring the bed area, study, walk-in wardrobe, lounge area off the fold-out balcony and vanity area to keep the ladies happy. "We are so thrilled to showcase our latest S520 model created in collaboration with some of the best minds in the business," said Vincenzo Poerio, CEO of Tankoa. "She is the epitome of Tankoa, bigger and better than ever and anticipating the future needs of owners in her winning combination of aesthetics and functionality."

The Pershing GTX116 was at the show and formed part of a 6-boat showing from the Ferretti Group at the 2025 PBIBS. The Pershing GTX116 yacht is a 36-meter vessel that is the current flagship of the GTX series. Three models are in the series that run from the just launched first unit from the GTX70 to the slightly larger GTX80. Like all Pershings, they are performance oriented yachts with the GTX116 carrying MAN V12 2000s which give a top speed of 34-knots using waterjet propulsion. The range is around 800 nautical miles at efficient economical speed of 10-knots. At 29-knots the range is reduced to 400 nautical miles. There is a 5-cabin layout onboard.

Nautor Swan unveiled a 42-meter sloop design at the 2025 PBIBS. The project forms part of a sailing yacht range over 40-meters. The first is a 42-meter design with Malcolm Mckeon. Details are being kept wrapped-up but in a brief statement the yard said, "The alloy sailing yachts will honor Nautor Swan’s iconic aesthetic while focusing on protection, comfort, and long-range cruising ability, with no compromise to sailing performance".
