Cummins 450 zincs

    Hello:
    I'm replacing the zincs in my Cummins 450's and notice a couple of them look in tact but are heavily coated in oxidation (whitish). Do these need to be replaced or can I just clean the oxidation off.

    Just replace them, because if they break off it takes a lot of time to get them out of the system and isn't worth the hassle

    Taken out of a Cummins this morning, one either end of H/E.

    As J says, just change them.

    Yes, in saltwater. The boat gets light use during the season. One big service at the beginning of the season and a 2nd light service at the end.

    On some of the commercial Cummins we look after, the anodes get changed 4 times a year.
