Could it be a Nelson hull?

Take a look at the picture of this 45' wooden boat from late seventies. Despite her mediterranean full white, do you think this 2 x 270 hp powered girl could be a Nelson hull, with all that it means in terms of seakeeping? She comes from Motomar yard in Lavagna, Italy (the house of Sangermani...). I know they built some Nelson pilothouses for italian Coast Guard and port authorities. So, any opinion?

The T.T. designed Nelson hull was made by many companies or have inspired many copy-cat looking boats. A quick list of the main ones are in the link below.

A wooden Sangermani version would be of no surprise at all, they were involved in many projects around this time. All I can say is that the forward sections of the hull look very narrow, with very little flare and would lead to a very wet ride, that really could be an early Nelson version.

By the way, nice find. :)

Thank you Fishtigua. In the next few weeks I'll have the opportunity to make a ride on that girl, and I'll sure come back here to write down my sensations.
Very wet ride, you say? So you mean something like this 42's ride or this one's, either you really mean a lot more wet?

I've worked for 2 of those yards on the linked list, Aquastar and Seaward. 2 very wet boats. Believe it or not, the more beam the hulls got the wetter the ride.

Just be sure to wear your waterproof sailing gear. Even on a nice, calm day there will be lots of spray.

Tyler Yachts even added huge sprayrails to the hull of the Vortex 43 to cut down on the over spray.
