  1. Guido de Groot introduces the 'Streamliner' megayacht

Again, a designer has been bold enough to tap into inspiration from the past and throw out a retro design for a megayacht concept. One of these latest exploits comes from Guido de Groot with a concept called the 'Streamliner' 42-meter Project.

We are always "passionate and eager to explore new solutions.", this is according to Guido de Groot Design and is clear on the design of the Streamliner concept. Although the design has several classical elements, the yacht is a modern as any. One of these elements is a fold out balcony on the sea along the forward-end of the lower deck.
  2. This one folds down to sea-level providing extra relaxation space with the fitting chairs and tables in a secure environment when the custom railings are inserted. Additionally, a swim ladder can be fitted to allow swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean or the South Pacific. Climb aboard after your swim and you can follow the stairs up one deck to the main deck. Travel all the way up to the sun deck you will find a spacious open atmosphere broken up into several areas.

The forward extreme of the deck showcases a jacuzzi along the center-line with sunpads flanking it, the typical modern outlay of relaxation on the sundeck. Directly aft of this space is a classic looking funnel, which really is just an aesthetic piece. It houses a pantry and atop, provides space for an extra helm-station and lookout area. Behind that is a bar for cool drinks shaded by a hard-top extending aft off the funnel.

Aft of that is extensive seating whether in lounging chairs or settee style. On the aft lower deck there is a garage to fit Streamliner's main tender and other toys. The project was infact a collaboration between Doug Sharp of Sharp Design and Guido doe Groot. “We both thought that it would be a pity not to do something with the retro-style sketches in those books. From there on we started to work on the Streamliner concept yacht to the level as it is today, which includes a detailed design, a tank-tested hull, and a thorough specification.”
