  1. Nordhavn delivers 68' "Rest Assured" motor yacht

P.A.E. didn’t wait long to celebrate its first Nordhavn christening of the year, and this festive event took place January 6th to the sounds of bells ringing and one stubborn bottle unwilling to ceremoniously break on cue. Nordhavn 68 hull #22 "Rest Assured" was handed over to her owners Jim and Jane Slattery, who were thrilled to take delivery and eager to celebrate with their son Mike, close friends, their captain and the P.A.E. gang.

In the meantime, they will enjoy Rest Assured and spend 2012 getting some crucial Nordhavn miles underfoot. It’s a task they wasted no time in tackling. The day following the christening, Jim and Mike Slattery, Captain Dustin, and the Slattery’s salesman, Paul Hutton from Nordhavn’s southwest sales office, left for Mexico.

Jim Slattery’s christening toast, which was based a more traditional navy ritual, is something that we can all reflect on when heading out to sea: “We toast to the sailors of old, to Rest Assured. The moods of the sea are many, from tranquil to violent. We ask that this ship be given the strength to carry on. The keel is strong, (we ask) that she keeps out the pressures of the sea. We ask the sailors of old and the mood of God that is the sea, to accept Rest Assured as her name, to help her through her passages and to allow her to return with her crew safely.”

With construction of their 68 just having gotten underway early last year, so impressed with Nordhavn were the Slatterys that they struck a second deal to build a larger Nordhavn – an 86 which will be delivered to them in about 10 months.
