When on the boat, the Ac will start getting room maybe like every couple days. I go into pump room and chillers are reading 70. I flip the breakers off and on and the problem always go away for a while. What would be causing this?
What is the normal cooling water temp setting? Sounds like it is not cycling correctly and resets when you flip the breakers. Is there a default light on before resetting breakers ?
It could be a number of things causing them tonshut down. There should be a fault on the display or light depending on manufacturer. Could be high pressure due to lack of sea water flow... could be a flow problem in the loop... could be the compressor running hot... could be the temp of the loop being too low. Hard to tell without knowing the brand
Now the chiller water temp is reading like 46. We aren't losing water flow but I'll have to really look next time I'm on board.
Water temp of 46 is in line, ours run 47 to 48 in cool mode. Not sure about your system, probably has a low flow and low temp light. Chillers will not run with low flow default, but will cycle back on when low water temp changes a few degrees. Low flow (not default) can cause a low temp default...just went thru that problem on our system...could be air, pump, or possible trash on chiller plate.
Do you have a full time captain? If so is he devoid of all or any engineering skills?? The last three threads you've had starting with your steering syst / controls. Gens alternators rewind along with problems w/ the fresh water pumps and now rudimentary chiller questions leads me to believe that you need to hire a qualified marine engineer to alleviate the sounding board that you've found on YF that your bouncing questions off of members for simple solutions. If you can afford to purchase a 105 ft. yacht than spend the extra $$ on a licensed engineer that will save you from asking these questions and will be able to replace / repair in -house and will earn his salary savings wise in six months .
Good point Captholli. A ft captain was hired last week. And I do suspect I'll save money. But I'm still stuck in California taking care of the kids while the boat is in Fll, so I still need to have fun playing arm chair quarter back. I love learning about this stuff.
