I value opinions here.. Wife still won't allow me to buy a bigger boat, but will charter. 1. Is Charterworld the best way to approach this? 2. What type of negations are reasonable in this market. 3. If any specific recommendations of yacht or broker, please PM! Requirements: - 70 -85' motoryacht - Week of March 25th (7days.. maybe 9?) - $25-30K budget - Family of 6 (mom, dad + 4 kids 9 - 18yrs) - Caribbean - Exumas maybe St Martin? - We've been to BVIs and Exumas. We won't do BVIs again - too touristy. Exumas was great, but would not fly thru Nassau. Direct flight to Georgetown might be a good option. Flying out of SFO and will only do one stop. So open to other more southern islands. Prefer short legs of a no more than 2-3 hours a day. - Amenities - Wife wants a jet ski. Great food, etc - Crew - Prefer 3 - Will stretch budget for right crew. - Yacht type - 2000 or newer - Azimut, Horizon, Viking Pricess, Hargrave, Cheoy Lee. Prefer modern decor. Motor Yacht Caribbean Dreamin - Azimut 8 Motor Yacht Sorana - Princess 6 Motor Yacht Panache - Cheoy Lee 85ft ( Boat feels on the old sideā¦. 7 Motor Yacht Dione Due - Riva Yacht 9 Motor Yacht AQUARIUS - Cheoy Lee 80 8 Motor yacht ANDIAMO - Symbol 85 7 Motor Yacht Watershed II - President
St Martin is ok, but just as bad as Nassau since it seems you dont like Nassau...if it s the traffic etc that bothers you, start the charter at the new Albany which is close to the airport Out of st marten you can do a couple of days in Anguilla, 2 or 3 in st Barth and back. (I lived on St Barth for 12 years so I m a little partial) If you have done the northern exumas out of Nassau, then the southern exumas out of GTown is worth doing. Short runs between anchorages, more elevation than the northern exumas. Rat Cay, Rudder Cay, lee Stocking (great anchorage with 3 beaches in the middle) The other nice thing about the southern exumas is that it is even less crowded than the northern exumas... And you can still make it all the way to Staniel (from where ink typing this watching a great sunset!!) As to deals, probably within 5 to 10% of published rates, depends how busy the boat is, I know we won't take anything below that. You may get more leeway in negitiating the delivery fee if any,Not sure how many boats are there, we ve done only one charter out of there, no discount but no delivery fee from nassau where we were after owners trip With a family you need to find a crew who likes kids... Dont consider Any boat where the owner or crew seems reluctant to accept kids. If the kids aren't happy, you won't be and some crew are just lousy with kids... We ve done many family charters and are ready for kids... We actually like it as it is usually more casual. I can't look at the links, slow connection here in Staniel... Another thing to consider is how long the crew has been working on the boat, when the crew knows the boat well, it makes a difference. I d throw our name in but we re booked around that time...
