basically for products with "minimal risk" the manufacturer prepares a declaration of conformity and labels the products with the CE Mark. (Self certification). If the product is found to not meet the requirements of the relevant directives then the product is withdrawn from the market and the manufacturer fined.

for products with greater risks they have to be indepedently certified.

I didnt see what size of boats require to be independently certified though.

basically the CE product means that the product meets the relevant EU legislation for that type of product. So you have to determine which legislation is relevant.

i guess that one of them is 94/25/EC
Directive 94/25/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 June 1994 on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to recreational craft

if you are going to manufacture a series you really should find a consultant to advise you on this while you are still in design stages.

I think you have all information in the links above, but if you were producing smaller powerboats in class C, you could make the certification yourself.

A 30 foot sailing boat is usually for open waters and need a higher class, probably B, but I donĀ“t know if this can be certified by the producer.

Read the links and find out where your boat fits in best and how to proceed from there is all I can say...

    I suggest Bureau Veritas

    Hi Prana,

When I built my boat in Turkey I contacted Bureau Veritas. They have offices in every place.
The procedures are not that complicated but without the certificate you can't sell your boat in the European Union.
I'm sure you can find their whereabouts online
    Good luck,

    Get CE through RINA

Apply for a CE certification through RINA. This way you get to put up the logos of both CE and RINA(A nice marketing tool).Contact any RINA office and they will be happy to certify. Approximate rates range between USD 3,500-USD 5,000
