I would place a call into CAT with the engine serial numbers and make sure all of the updates have been done, especially with aftercoolers and such. The engines that have recieved all upgrades have been durable and good.

From my experience CAT repaired all of the troublesome 3196's with updated parts, aftercoolers and such under warranty and all of the 3196's that I know of have been trouble free if they've recieved the updates.

CAT certainly had their issues with this series. Does anyone know what year they correct the AC problem and the line began to perform without issues?

It varies with where and when your engines were delivered.

Bite the bullet and call CAT.

Was hoping to hear from the experts first. That's obviously the next step. Thanks for the input.
