Hello I am looking for the location of the multi station in my carver 450 voyager pilothouse - anyone know the location of the unit in the vessel with the TAMD74P volvos? My second driving station is kicking out on start up
Check your EDC modules and the buttons. They are a bloody nightmare. Volvo Penta Exploded view / schematic Adapter for Mechanical Control, EDC TAMD74A-A, TAMD74A-B, TAMD74C-A, TAMD74C-B, TAMD74L-A, TAMD74L-B, TAMD74P-A, TAMD74P-B, TAMD75P-A - MarinePartsEurope.com
Sorry, I should add something. The module is normally stuck somewhere stupid in the foreward flybridge locker/deckbridge joint.
thanks thanks for getting back to me so quickly!!yes it is the EDC module (by which I assume you mean the Multi Station Unit -the device that allows you to switch between driving stations) - what do you mean by the "forward flybridge locker/deck bridge joint"?. I have looked under the lower and upper helm stations numerous times? Volvo has explained to me what it looks like and I have still had no luck.
Just follow the cables down. Some makers (not sure about Carver) even fitted them in the deckheads above the lower helm. It's a nasty job but some sucker has to...........
We have a 2001 Carver 444 with Glendinning controller. The electronic control units are mounted on our boat are in the engine compartment forward of the port engine.
thanks I am looking for the throttle control unit - are you referring to the Glendinning Cablemaster?
If you have Glendennings, talk to them. If you have the very old Volvo system, check out a local dealer. Do you feel it's an electronic fault or a cable movement promlem?
The cable-masters are for the shore power cables. On the older engine control systems, Glendinning also made the mechanical engine synchronizers. Large shoe-box sized Cozmo with throttle cables attached. The ECM modules were sometimes mounted close to this big gold looking box, usally near the engines.
Correct, we have the Glendinning synchronizers. The throttles are electronic with the ECM modules mounted in the engine compartment. From the control boxes there are mechanical throttle and shifter cables. I guess my point was that on our Carver the control boxes were mounted in the engine compartment. It might be a clue to how Carve did things if there is any consistency in what they do.
thanks I have all volvo systems (TAMD74P with EDC) - have looked in engine room but will look again thanks
