The budget US President Barack Obama submitted to Congress on Monday proposes to slap a $5.50 fee on every visitor from Canada who travels to the US by air or by sea.

I don't think many people are going to argue or complain about $5.50, however Obama needs to rein in the ridiculous overspending that the Government is doing, instead of focusing on squeezing the entire population with more taxes in a recession. Hopefully 2012 will be the change and hope I'm looking for!

$5.50? Really? OMG! In case anybody hasn't read a newpaper this decade Obama took office with the highest deficit this country has ever seen. There is no money in the Fed, nor the state or local coffers. NYC just announced they're cutting over 6,000 teachers. All the legislatures are trying to find what must have's won't be. And the price of food is going up by more than 10%. Well, I wouldn't buy my boat in the U.S. either if they're so ungrateful for my business that they would charge me $5.50 when I'm gracing them with my presence.

    Just for some perspective...

In 2007 when Democrats took control of Congress the deficit was $161 billion.

In 2008 the deficit was $459 billion.

By the end of 2009, new Democratic spending such as the stimulus program pushed the deficit to $1.413 trillion. That's with a "T" folks.

The 2010 projected deficit is $1.556 trillion.

So please keep in mind that President Obama managed to parlay that "huge" deficit into something 3 times larger in just two years.

Oh, and don't forget, the Obama administration just announced that it is projecting a $1.650 trillion deficit for 2011.

Let us also not forget about Obamacare and its related costs. And its effects on the economy probably will not be seen until after 2012, when there is a new administration in power. Who will get the blame for that? Most likely whoever is in office. Bush gets blamed for everything. Obama spends like there is no tomorrow, "because we were in a recession when he took office".

This is a purely political thread and it has no place on YF.

As you know, I'm not against a little detour here and there nor a little politics thrown in, but this is rediculous.
