Many of the boats look pretty easy to build. I think one of their crackerbox kits with a small diesel would be a neat tender for a larger yacht. Not that this thread got me drooling over some of the builds or anything...

As far back as I can remember as a child my Dad dreamed of building his own Hampton Class The Hampton One Design Class sail boat which is a very popular class around Tidewater,VA because of their low draft.

He even built a workshop behind the house with special folding doors that created an opening wide enough to get the boat out once it was finished.

As many dreams go life moved on as did my parents into a fourplex with a basement which became my Dad's workshop.

By the time I was about 50 I was attending a coming out party where his 18 foot Chesapeak Bay Crabbing Skiff built from plans from the Mariners Museum in Hampton, VA was being hauled out of their basement to be launched.

I am proud to day that my Dad and his crabbing skiff went on to win several awards for hand built wooden boats in contests on the East Coast.

He named her for his two nieces and now she proudly sits at my sisters dock in Norfolk, VA ready to full fill another generation or two of dreams.

If you can dream it, it can be built!!

Very nice boat. That would be something to hang onto for future generations to see and use. I've restored a couple older boats, and rigged a couple new hulls for racing, but never built one myself. Gotta make sure it's on the bucket list.

If ever I had the time, money, and metal fortitude to build a wooden boat... I'd do something daft like this:
