Blohm + Voss reveals 80M Semi-Custom Superyacht Project​

German builder Blohm + Voss is usually a fully custom manufacturer but this time they are presenting an 80-meter semi-custom superyacht project simply called 'BV80'. B+V actually stopped building superyachts a couple years ago when its parent company -at the time-, Thyssenkrupp wanted to focus more on commerical projects. With new ownership now B+V has bounced back into the superyacht sector recently with the delivery of the 82-meter superyacht "Graceful". This 80-meter now represents a new era for the German yard stepping foot into the semi-custom arena.

‘One of the key things from our research is build time, people want boats fast these days,’ says B+V Sales & Marketing Director Patrick Coote. ‘If we took a contract on this boat before the end of the year, she would be delivered in 2017.’ To garner full attention from potential buyers, this five-deck superyacht packs full features in every department. For instance, there is a full atrium onboard that runs from the lower deck to the bridge deck. Double height spaces on smaller superyachts are uncommon but the BV80 is featuring this.

There is space for a bespoke nightclub, outdoor cinema and indoor garden. Also a bit different is all guest accommodations are on the main deck. The master suite is designed with a sliding roof, yes a sliding roof. Fully-height glazing exists almost throughout. The main pool onboard is aft of the main deck and boasts deck space to place loungers and other deck furniture. As to the design, the work was done by Eidsgaard Design with provision for a helicopter pad on the bow and tender storage in a large dedicated garage. With the tender garage up front, a large beach club now exists aft. The BV80 is ready to be built immediately upon finding and owner, it isn't a static concept that is just pretty to look at. Extensive research for around 8 months has gone into the design. ‘If someone says go, we are ready to go tomorrow,’ according to Coote.
