I am wondering what the biggest Roamer was? I have just seen a 68' Roamer and I was not aware they were made that big.
Biggest Roamer Jim, they made a 72' for F. Lee Bailey. Fro what I was told by the factory many years ago, they made three 72's. Jeff ss6748
It looks like the largest one made was 78'. See link for good and fun information. http://www.geocities.com/alloyed2sea/MODELS_Index2.html Have a good day Steve
Longest Roamer (to date) Officially, the longest Roamer Chris-Craft ever made came very late in the game, the 1979 Roamer MY ("Houseboat") 74' - designed by Derecktor in NY (one of the few - "True Love" shown below.) Unofficially, more than a few owners have succumbed to "footitis" and had their true loves lengthened (Mr. Bailey's "Spellbound" included). Consequently, the lovely "ScotLynd" (http://**************/core/listing/...rrency=USD&access=Public&listing_id=1535&url=) currently reigns as our duly appointed ruler, measuring in at a royal 82 feet. No doubt, this high water mark will be surpassed someday - but not likely soon. Stay tuned....
Do you thinks she is worth what they are asking. I could see that kind of money for a newer boat and one that was intended to be that long. Not sure how seaworthy she would be in her present condition.
Twu Luv Yachts get lengthened all the time. If done well (much easier with a metal hulled boat) - it can actually improve sea-keeping capabilities. It all depends. That said, "True Love" looks pretty sharp and able to handle the weather. As to her true value - it all depends -- has she been maintained to yacht standards -- only a survey can tell! Good luck! Eric
