What was the biggest Chris Craft built? Is there any plan to go larger on the current range? Is the quality of the current Chris Crafts as good as expected? Thanks for any info
Largest Chris-Craft built I have read that they did produce three 63' Motor Yachts in 1953-54; the actual length of these hulls was 62' 7". I don't know about larger models, but anyone who has access to the Chris-Craft "Guide" can easily look it up.
According to "Chris Craft The Essential Guide" the largest wood build was a 66'10" Constellation (5 built) 1960-1961. The largest fiberglass was a 60'10" Commander (9 built) 1969-1970. The big daddy of them all- 74' Roamer with an 18'3" beam in Aluminum, (3 built) in 1977.
Largest Chris-Craft built I have just read that the largest yachts built by Chris-Craft were 74 feet in length; they were built by the Roamer Division of Chris-Craft in two styles in 1977. Chris-Craft Roamer also built a 68' aluminum hulled yacht in 1978. Later, 10' was added to the stern at Rybovitch to create a 78' craft. It is currently for sale for $449K in Ft. Lauderdale. There is a report of an 85' Chris-Craft, apparently also for sale.
I'm looking for pictures of the engine room/area of the 53-54 Chris Craft 63' Motor yacht. If anyone knows of one of these yachts still around or has the pics I need I'd be very grateful for a contact. Thanks. pete
It just so happens that my partner and I just aquired on of those 66'10" connies. Hull #CMMA-66-001. She needs some work. But is a beautifull boat.
Maybe new record; 8 years later..(last previous post Aug 31, 2010). I luv and worked on the Roamer alloy house boats. Old Striker fan also. But after the woodies, all are ancient.
There is currently a 1983 Chris Craft 66' Connie and a 1984 66' listed on Yachtworld for sale. They are both on freshwater lakes in Texas. They appear to be fiberglass. I can find no information of Chris Craft building anything that large in the 1980's but it hard to argue with pictures. Anyone with knowledge of these boats?
I'm new here. My Dad was a Chris Craft Connie owner the last was a 57 built in 63 I have many pictures from launching day in Pompano on forward if any body is interested in nostalgic photos I will be happy to share them. The boat was a beauty in every detail. The interior was designer decorated for Mom and was used in a brochure. Launched in Jan.63 She was named "Pokey" she wintered in South Florida spent summers on the Long Island Sound. Fond memories....
The 66’ Chris Crafts were based on the 66’ Pacemaker—-very nice looking boats. Chris Craft acquired the molds when they bought them from Uniflite who had in turn bought them from the bankruptcy sale at Pacemaker. I believe they are David Martin designs, like the 46’ Commander and later 50’ Commander from the 80’s that were based on the 46’ Pacemaker.
It was a very small number, I would not be surprised if it was only 2 or 3. There is one for sale on Lake Texoma and it is in beautiful shape, having been kept in a climate controlled boathouse for most/all of its life. I have a copy of The Essential Guide to Chris Craft and can look and see if they have it listed in there when I get home.
