Love it... Back in the good old USA... visit to where else... Lafayette, Indiana... home of Purdue University... and CAT's big marine engine plant...

Cat Marine Engine Manufacturing Lafayette - YouTube

Last time sorely missed the plant tour... but the University set me up with passes to the Lady Gaga's rag tag first tour final concert. Rather done the engine plant... oldest living person at the concert... !

This time at the engine plant asked if I could have some kind of job there (that I would work for crumbs) and was told too old for that even... but I could buy a couple extra if I wanted!

    Hi,

Great facility but there aren't many of the boats featured here or used by the posters that would use any of the engines they manufacture at that facility.

The charter yacht Seafairis that just sunk was powered by two 3512's not that that is related at all.

What is very interesting is the level of precision in engineering and production used in producing marine engines now-a-days.

    Hi,

    A great collection of videos.

Interestingly enough I see at 2.00 into the Greenvale one where the engine is fitted with an old style Premium Panel complete with the mechanical gauges that CAT used for years and I have since been told is not available at any cost for any electronic engine.

I am going to save this video and ask for this arrgt on the 4 x C 18's I am specifying for a project.

Not from the factory, but it could be fitted by the dealer

That is an in-house only option for shareholders with 100,000 shares or more... :p

    Hi,

Not according to the dealer I asked about this on two previous occasions, mind you the same dealer told me there were no longer counter rotating 3516 engines made which proved to be false.

I was there as a guest of a local Dealer for the unveiling of the 3512 B years ago. Very Impressive facility.
