We are looking at some Vespa like scooters and want to understand how folks would mount on bow of sportfish. Currently have 1500lb davit and 14' rib to port. I think there is plenty of room and these things are less than 300lbs. But how to keep them secure and stable underway?

I would think of a (removable) Stainless steel U shaped floor track, with four tie down straps, and a good cover!!

I was thinking of reef material. More weight on the fore deck?
Rent bikes or scooters when you get to where you're going.
Maintenance alone will prove my idea worth thinking about.

Foredeck on a sportfish is really not a viable location for a scooter - unless you don't care if it's destroyed. Too much water and spray and pounding. Usually found on trawlers up out of the weather on the boat deck aft of flybridge.

If you have to have one aboard you would be better off to load it from the dock into the cockpit and tie it down with a stamoid type cover on it.

Good point on corrosion. Need a bigger boat.
