Bering Yachts offers models up to 80'. They are in current contract discussions on an eighty footer and have presented detailed specs, CAD drawings, deck plans, and presentation pictures. A 3D model is currently under construction.

The air draught is 17' on the Bering 55 with the hinged mast lowered. The standard hinged mast requires a crane for lowering and raising; however, a push button hydraulic system is offered for frequent bridge duckings.

For those preferring twin engines, the 220hp Cummins is standard. John Deere 178hp for twins are also offered.

I probably missed it but what is her range? Trans Pacific?

3,000nm @ 8 knots consuming 5 gal/hr

5,000nm @ 7 knots consuming 3 gal/hr

8,000nm @ 6 knots consuming 1.6 gal/hr

All with 10% reserve plus the genset.

So yes the range, for the deranged, is transPacific

Do you have range numbers for the twins ? Cummins and JD if you have them.

The Cummins QSB-5.9 heavy duty 225hp twins have the same estimated range and consumption when using one engine at a time which is the recommended mode under normal conditions. Using both engines simultaneously increases consumption by about 20-30%.

No question specifically, but did want to give accolades to YF for the review, and especially to Judy / The Bering team for a fine looking product released to market.

I wish you success in the new year of future yacht building. The Bering 55 is a fresh and very sharp look boat. I hope to come across one in person soon enough to get a closer view and hands on tour.

Some inside scoop on the reviews is that Carl will not have reviews on just any yacht. He handpicks and/or approves those that are worthy of a review. Then Carl sets up all the pictures and the format. And then comes his editing and touch-up of both photos and writing. He spends long days before and after the reviewer writes. Some reviews and photos require more editing than others but his finishing touch is what really makes the reviews sing. Carl is not just a techy wizard, he's also a talented writer and proven editor.

Really appreciate the compliments - it makes the work even more rewarding.

I see Bering has also linked to the review on their site.

It(the yacht), really gives new meaning to "big things come in small packages".

The newly launched Bering 70 is undergoing sea trials, reminds me of Skat.

During the background talk you hear that buyers are coming on board in the afternoon so she may still be available to first come first served!

Could be buyers of sister ships as well getting a look at the first hull.
