A couple of days ago I ran across a site for Bentley Yachts. As far as I know, they have yet to actually build a vessel described on their website. Does anybody know if they're even a real outfit or not? The website seems rather crude to me for what is supposed to be a top-level design organization. Thanks in advance. yacht boutique dot com
(your link was edited to remove SE value) This is John Rodriques, formerly known as the BS artist behind Bugatti Yachts. He joined YF a few years ago and started spewing garbage. We have since taken out the trash. He likely changed the name to Bentley because his questionable claims and business tactics went viral on the net under the Bugatti name. Steer clear!
Thanks for the info. I guessed something must be up when I saw one of his projects was the Caspian Sea Monster. Back in the 70's and 80's the Russians (then Soviets) spent about 20 years trying to get them to work properly. At the time I was an Army Intelligence Officer and we spent many hours trying to figure out WTF was that? It was huge!
This is sortof funny. A number of years ago, my brokerage was offering for sale a "Baha" catamaran sportfish cruiser. We had the boat listed and advertised on YachtWorld, along with all of our other powerboat inventory. For some unknown reason, if you did a search on YachtWorld for "Bugatti" our Baha would pop up in the search results. That Bugatti Yachts guy sent me a litany of nasty threatening emails demanding that I immediately cease and desist from sullying his brand with my stinking Baha Cruisers catamaran listing. It was all quite comical.
I've been on the receiving end of his threats as well. When he originally spammed YF, he was blasted by a few members who saw through his smoke & mirrors. He requested the threads to be removed and I complied because I didn't want him to gain any exposure from YF. Later, we had an email exchange that went horribly wrong for him. I called his bluff on the hydrodynamic research he claimed. I still have copies of the exchange that I maintained for our law firm. If you think he was nasty about a Baja sullying Bugatti, he's gonna be downright hostile when he sees YF's SEO at work. Google "Bentley Yachts" and this thread tops a search as of today... Google
Some synergy here... in the 80's, one of the research projects I was involved in was developing low wake signature platforms. A wing-in-ground-effect was the ultimate solution, but the size needed to carry two humans and the gear needed during infiltration prevented further development. In essence, we were developing the American version of the Ekranoplan, albeit on a MUCH smaller scale.
No doubt. I guess his $780M suit against VAG and the Prince of Monaco didn't go anywhere. Instead of arguing the case himself, maybe he should have hired Orly Taitz. Both seem equally grounded in reality.
Hi, I had a quick look at this guys website and just see a load of images that have been harvested elsewhere online and some misleading claims to fame trying to link it all together.
What K1W1 said. I'm surprised Rodriguez is still trying to maintain that illusion of his. The amusing part, if there even is an amusing part to the story, is the large number of vessels pictured on the Bentley (was Bugatti) web site that I actually had a direct hand in designing and/or testing.
FYI, his impressive headquarters is a virtual office in the Atrium Financial Center in Boca Raton. It rents for a princely sum of $125/month. No doubt he entertains important clients at the Atrium Cafe and splits the bill.
