Bad Girl attempts (and runs aground) to cross over from Rybovich to the channel on the Palm Beach side yesterday about 10 am on a rising tide. Doesn't make it across and about 2 pm churns back to the Marina. I called them on 13 to offer assistance with no response.
There is some skinny water there, why the heck would they even try that? To save 10 minutes around? Amazing... I doubt, take the tender first and mark the track or have a crew ahead with the tender
If that shot is from Sailfish, there's no water there. In fact you can see the current line at the edge of the bar in your pic. They were probably on 9 & 16, but also may have been too embarassed to respond. DK what you were running, but that's a lot of boat & liability to help (for both) unless you were on a commercial tow.
That blow in the water reminds me of the water outlet from the power station. Is he is just south of the port channel (& old Peanut island docks), pointing south?
He started by heading across right from Rybovich and I was amazed he was trying... actually got quite far then before he was all the way across (still churning massive amounts of sand from the jets) he turned north. Why? IDK. His stern was south and it looked like he was trying to go thru the center where all the sailboats moor. It looked like his stern then swung free of the shallows (and he was very close to the Palm Beach side channel which I was in) but he did not reverse. I was sure he could have reversed and gotten clear of the bar. I called to let him know if he did not already that there was plenty of water on this side. Was I going to throw him a line? No. Was I going to offer assistance by way of advice? Yes. I did call Sea Tow on a land line and a few minutes later one when screaming by, but on my afternoon tour he was still there- albeit turned 180 degrees. More black smoke and then he pushed thru - back to Rybovich. Rybovich is not close to Sailfish Marina- so there is no way I could have taken those pictures from Palm Beach Shores.
The main channel into Rybo goes directly due east across Lake Worth to the channel that runs along the east side along the Palm Beach side, there is plenty of water to cross in that area. Maybe things have changed in the last few years, but I have done this route many times, and there used to be a big Perini that anchored in that area all the time.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Is the channel directly in front of Rybovich? IDTS... isn't it a few hundreds yards to the north and marked by some large floating markers?
Would appear that she is going for a ride - greyhound bus style. For those not familiar, that would be, go for a ride and leave the driving to us. http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/boat-shows-yacht-watching/20649-yacht-express.html#post171812
The owner of Bad Girl really is quite the yachtsman as he ownes several other vessels including the 66 meter Natita /ex Dilbar built by Kusch/Oceanco, The ex presidential yacht Honeyfitz just rebuilt from the keel up by Moores marine $$ truly a labor of love for that yacht on his part, and a couple of Hatteras that he keeps on standby for his kids. Now thats somebody who does more than his fair share of supporting the marine industry!! Cant fathom the out of pocket to do something on this many levels.
When I was at Rybovich Marine in WPB not too long looking for Venus I found her along with another fabulous femme fatale, another Bad Girl! When I saw Bad Girl yet another famous Bad Girl Jamiroquai Live Bad Girls ( Donna Summer cover 70`s) - YouTube popped up into my disco brain! Don't all Bad Girls have one thing in common? Don't they all like to party down??!!!
Saw her at Pier 66 from my hotel room two weeks ago. I captured a few pictures/video of her pulling in. Not sure how to post them from my iPhone so sorry about the lack of technical skills. I also have some pictures of other vessels too.
If you connect your phone to your computer with a usb cable you should then be able to copy the pictures from your phone to your computer where you can then post them to the forum. You may need to resize the photos to 640 X 480 with any photo software since that is the largest size allowed on the forum. We would love to see your shots so please give it a try!
So if I get them loaded on my computer, how would I place in a post? I only saw a way to do it via a URL... Thanks again
Hope this helps: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/g...-yachtforums-rules-directions-guidelines.html Scroll down to: Uploading Pictures...
That helps a lot - I appreciate you spelling that out for me. It looks like I only have a short video clip of Bad Girl pulling up to the face dock and am not sure if it would be in compliance with the rules so I will withhold that one for now. I have a few other pictures that i'll share of various yachts/various places and am looking for a good location to post them if anyone knows a good place to lump them together.
