Would like information on this small passagemaker. We are interested in cruising the Caribbean, than down to Brasil.
The Atlantique 50 was built by Jet Tern Marine in China. This yard builds Selene Ocean Trawlers, a very high quality trawler. The demand for the Selenes has been so high, with an 18-24 month waiting time to get delivery of a new boat, not much effort has been put into the Atlantique. The boat is well equiped with just about everything included as standard equipment. The canoe stern should help in a following sea, but the lack of a big swim platform hurt demand. Atlantique 50' Thanks Tucker for the info. After looking further into what we need for circumnavigation I believe a dutch steel boat in the 65+ foot range will serve our needs. I absolutely want to have the canoe stern, a side swim platform can be used. Glad to see you participate in this forum also.
A boat for Patrick Patrick, you mentioned looking for a steel boat 65+ feet, possibly Dutch. While the Dutch-built boats enjoy a great reputation for quality craftsmanship, this comes at a price, given the USD-Euro relationship which widens as we speak. There are builders in North America who can give you what you're looking for and, of course, brokerage steel boats on the market as well. Your budget will go a long way in determining which of the manifold directions you might consider. A qualifier: much less than 65 feet quickly precludes you from a quality steel boat, as fiberglass boats--dollar for dollar-- will dominate.
Atlantique 50 = Queenship 60 Perhaps you should check out this info from Sparkman & Stephens. The 50 footer has grown a bit. http://www.sparkmanstephens.com/news/Passagemaker60.html
