We launched this 80 footer yesterday. Excuse the rubbish photo but note the nice wooden inserts on the main deck as well as the aftdeck. Getting it up the road took 1 large tractor and 2 Backhoes to steer the trailer wheels and trying to keep the tractor frontend down. http://www.aquastar.gg/80-01.pdf
Aquastar These boats have interested me for a while. Really like the timeless, easy on the eye style. Are they as good as the reviews say? Especially like the 57. Was that an orphan Aqua for sale for years at Palmer Johnson? What does a used 57 go for? Thanks
Hi The 57 is a good seaboat and has a great layout but looks a little gawkey to me. The 65/74 are great semi-displacement cruisers with a trans-Atlantic range (not many boats like that on the market). The first boats 30 years ago were based on a Pilot boat hull and could be used in almost any sea state. The 48' is a little top heavy and a very wet ride, my boss has one. A new 84/85 is also comeing. Kafue, if you are ever in Europe, pop over to Guernsey. Jeff, the owner of Aquastar, has a 57 available to take for a test. Most owners are repeat customers, you'll see why. Fish www.aquastar.gg/index.html
Aquastar Hi Fish, Will do. I was in touch with Jeff a few years ago and he sent me all the details on the 57. A bit of overkill in the way of what I needed at the time so I bought the Offshore 58 instead. There was an Aqua for sale in the US for a long time. I am sure it was a 57. It is no longer on Yacht World. As for the design I would prefer a bigger, lower cockpit on the 57. Hence the Offshore suited better, especially for fishing. Regards.
Our nextdoor neighbor, Island Marine Craft, buy the hull and decks from Jeff and custom finish them. The Atlantis 47 is fab to fish from (on my Lotto wish-list). I'm sure if you talk to them, they could do you a 57' from Aquastar that fishes just as well. Take a look. www.islandmarinecraft.co.uk/#/atlantis-47/4529021156
Fish capable Aqua Hi Fish, By the time I customise a high qual built boat like this, I would be broke! However, it's worth knowing I can if the opportunity arises.
Have a guess why the Atlantis is on my "When I win the Lotto" list? On the next page of the IMC website is the Lochin 366 'Mantis'. This must be the best built, best looked after 36' in the world. I still want one though. Thats the trouble with living on a little island full of millionaires, even the little toys are very expensive and most of them have the big toys too.
