I was speaking with Tom Serio last week who has been working boat shows as long as I have... 25 plus years. We split hotel rooms for many years to keep costs down but it doesn't make fiscal sense anymore. Tom mentioned this may be his last FLIBS. I think it may be my last FLIBS too. We both agreed how nice it would be to attend a boat show as a consumer, beer in one hand, checkbook in the other, no meetings to make. Never had that luxury. With the exception of seeing industry friends, I really don't enjoy working the show anymore. The drive down, parking and shuttles are a hassle. Like others who no longer attaned, I'm turned off by new boat prices. When mid-range motoryachts cost more than a cash-flow positive office building and a 30 center console with twins costs as much as the average house, it's really hard to get excited about these products.
