Anybody know why Sealine seems to have disappeared from the US

This has been one of my questions for the last few years, especially with the launch of the 60. There is only one 60 in the US, sold by GY out of Miami and this boat has been on brokerage for quite sometime. (Must be hard to get warranty parts and repairs without US Distribution.)

Without being too specific, there are numerous reasons for Sealine not being distributed in the US. One of those has to do with how the product was represented here in the US and by the distributor that they had in place. (You can take what you like from this comment however those of you know the past management of Global will agree with this statement.)

Other factors included the export fees associated with shipping the product over. There were some customs issues as well from a standpoint of accounting. I don't want to say too much without being slanderish as I was involved in some of the Sealine deals towards the end of their distribution in the US.

From a market standpoint, resale prices--even for late-model boats--were less than stellar in the late '90s compared to similar boats.

Too bad. I found them to be good handlers in a choppy sea and they had the added benefit of being dry boats in those conditions.

Does it has something to do with after purchasing by Brunswick several years ago, there was decision made to avoid product conflict with Sea Ray lines? Afterall two companies have very similar products.

Now that Gerry B. has gone on to be the major domo for Royal Denship in the U.S., why spend time with the "small stuff" when the markets have most emphatically moved on to the "big stuff"?

The exchange rate on U.K. Sterling and the Euro over the past while has pretty well dictated the elimination in the U.S. market space.
