I was looking at Yachts Mag - March. On the cover is a picture of a very unusual 115', Moon Goddess - Robins egg blue. According to the article it is or was running around south Fla. I was surprised no one has spotted her. Does any of our esteemed YF yacht spotters have any shots or info on her?

By the way. Does being a senior member get me a senior discount at the movie theater?

How did Mr. Carlos Peralta afford these yachts then? well the Peralta family built up mexican mobile telecomms company Iusacell into something big. They got in there at the right time. Finally they sold it to Vodafone and Verizon in 2001 which each paid about $1bill for the network. Unfortunately it did not all turn out sweet as they eventually sold their stakes in 2003 to to Ricardo Salinas Pliego for about $10 million plus assumption of $814 million of Iusacell debt.

Thats how you do it if you ever wondered.....build companies up and then sell them. :D

I actually like the Jetsons-future-reto look overall. :) Except for the huge black "window" on the hull she looks pretty funky.

Even the color... it's got the Miami 1920s art-deco thing going for it. I like.

Yes, more like a raceboat than a yacht. I hope those inside were made aware of that manoeuver beforehand.

    Carl,

Sometimes it is tough to tell the players without a program - but I believe you have linked to photos of a Tempest, similar to one shown here: http://www.yachtsimonsez.com/specs.php

The Tempest has three diesels and its performance is not nearly in the class of Moon Goddess.

    Hi Mac,

Yes, it's Simon Sez. A friend was the baby-sitting broker for this boat at FLIBS in 06. I assumed the spectator position with him for awhile, trying to convince Prada decorated devils about the dungeon that lurked inside.

    Hi everybody,

Happy to hear you like the Moon Goddess!

I can tell you, that we were a bit surprised about the manoeuvrability. If you think the turns are extreme, then you should have seen the crash stop!!! From full speed to 0 knots on less than two boat lengths :D

Being onboard the yacht when doing these manoeuvres didn't feel extreme though.

    Best regards,

    Michael Pedersen

    Welcome Michael.

Your yacht is truly fantastic. If you have any way to provide video of a crash stop it would be amazing to see. At least more pictures would be great. I am not familiar with your yard. What other yachts have you built?

    Hi Lionel,

    And thanks!

    There is a video here:
    http://www.danishyacht.com/Admin/Public/DWSDownload.aspx?File=/Files/Filer/Film/Moon_Goddess.wmv
but unfortunately we don't have a video of the crash stop.

Danish Yacht went into super yacht building in year 2000. We have made the following vessels (I still do not know how to post pictures here, so I suggest checking our website for pictures and information):

    Super Yachts:

    Refit: S/Y Fidel
    http://www.danishyacht.com/Default.aspx?ID=35

    New builds:
S/Y Ranger (the well known J-Class)
    http://www.danishyacht.com/Default.aspx?ID=32

    S/Y Aventura
    http://www.danishyacht.com/Default.aspx?ID=34

    and last M/Y Moon Goddess
    http://www.danishyacht.com/Default.aspx?ID=36

Beside the yacht building we also build commercial vessels. Right now a serie of 6 patrol vessels are being built for the Danish Navy.
    http://www.danishyacht.com/Default.aspx?ID=37

Presently we are designing a 36 passenger First Class Fast Ferry inspired by Moon Goddess. There are still no renderings of this project.

    Best regards, Michael
