    Greetings,

It has been a long time since I have posted here.

I am considering a San Juan 38 OR ?as a weekender. The twist here is I would trailer it to local lakes in the mid-west Kansas-Oklahoma etc. I have a large shop in Hutchinson, Ks and would store it inside when not in use

As for trailering the boat, I would build a trailer to haul it with my Peterbilt tractor. The boat is just over 12' beam so a yearly permit would be the only real limitation in state. Trip permits could handle the rest.

As for the boat, I really like the concept of picnic boats. The use would be mostly weekends at lakes with friends and their boats. One thing I like about the original SJ38 was they are jets. The layout and finish in the cabin space Vs Hinckley is more to my liking. Is the quality of construction and systems in the SJ good, better, great OR just so so? I realize that I would have to get it to the mid west to start.

I have a machine/fab shop with 15K sq ft of indoor storage. Not looking for a project but understand a 20 year old day boat is not without issues.

None of the San Juan’s ever had jets, they did offer Volvo IPS near the end of production.
They will trailer easily, very stiff Vacuum Infused boats.
