I don't watch much TV, but occasionally catch American Chopper. Last night, they had the father vs. son build-off for a Cadillac VTS theme bike. Voting is open to the public... http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/american-chopper/chopper-auction.html Junior's bike is killing Senior's bike in the poll. I voted for Junior as well. It was a phenomenal build; the best ever. Have to admit, I would have voted for Junior no matter who built the best bike. He's the son of a B A S T A R D.
They both do amazing work if you're into Harley's. I think Junior is a little more innovative in his designs. I wonder how much of the back and forth argueing and nonsense is real and how much is played up for the ratings.
Hi, As an outside observer they seemed to do a lot together to obtain the sympathy vote. The whole idea of spending thousands of dollars on a POS no one can really ride is alien to many, I am amongst those who believe if you own a bike use it to the maximum of it's design capacity. Before I get shot down by a regular detractor of my posts, In my youth I used to race a number of dirt bikes and road bikes, as dirt bikes can be a hybrid I will clarify for the older reader what I rode, used to run on a Yamaha TZ 350, TZ 750 and then and RD 400F, I was then mad or lucky enough to run on a GSX1100EZ that belonged to someone Carl has met at FLIBS three years ago. These kind of race bikes and their riders are real motorcyclists in my opinion, the Hollywood type are just that.
That family did some work for my family years ago, prior to their motorcycle building days. I won't share my thoughts or anecdotes publicly, but suffice to say they are not exactly the prodigal sons of this Orange County.
Nearly all of it. An acquaintance of mine was invited down there once after submitting his CV for a job opening. The real life personas are absolutely nothing like the TV personas, and the way the real shop is run is absolutely nothing like the TV shop is run.
Geez... I feel so naive! I thought the feud was real. I really believed Senior was an ex-AA, anabolic monster with limited cerebral capacity whose mother failed to breast feed him. If this is all about ratings, these guys are much better actors than bike builders.
I think the old arguments were exaggerated. The hateful stuff the dad says now is real. You can't fake those character flaws.
