I've been told that my Allison's have been over serviced meaning too much oil. Is this something that needs to be fixed before I operate the boat or can I put it off for a while? Ive been told that it will do no harm but am I risking anything?

    Pump some of it out.

How much extra oil do they have? If it's a little I wouldn't worry about it. But the level is supposed to be checked while the engine is idling.

Over oil will cause the oil to foam AND, foaming oil will reduce oil pressure.
Would you care to add this data to your other post for those trying to be of some help FOR YOU??

They are about half a quart high I would guess. It's hard to say.

    Hi,

Reduced Oil Pressure can and does cause clutch slipping, not very easy to detect at first

Thanks guys! Sounds like I need to get it out of there soon. I guess removing the filter might be the easiest way?

Half a quart should not cause any problems. What pressure are you seeing?

I don't have a gauge for that so I'm kinda blind. I tried to pump some out with an oil change pump and they blocked me at both ends, where the dip stick goes in and where you add. The little hose the size of a pencil won't enter. I wonder why???

    Updates

Sorry. I've been away from the boat. Both pressures are 125. I found my gauges.
