I've been anxiously awaiting some new equipment from Italy that's being brought over in ten containers aboard the "HS Humboldt", every time I get an ETA for the vessel, the following day it gets bumped up a few more days. Last night I checked the vessels track via Marine Traffic and I found that it's occasionally going in circles? How do you explain why 294m container ship is making circles out at sea at 10+ knots?

    A) paid by the day?
    B) picking up unauthorized cargo at sea?
    C) waiting permission to cross a sector?

This would make the most sense, it's currently waiting for a slip outside Valencia but rather than go in circles, it's at anchor which seems like the logical thing to do...

    Hi,

It could be something as innocent as a Man Overboard drill - something a ship that size will be required to do as a part of its ISM mandated drill regime.

I agree, the first pic looks like a MOB drill. The second pic looks like they're anchored.
