While running some errands in S.E. Michigan, I came across this gem in the rough. Being trailered to, I hope, a heated pole barn for a full winter restoration project and about 30 coats of lacquer or varnish.

Sadly, I didn't get close enough to really identify the boat, other than the outboard was a Sea King. She did look true to form in that she was 100% wood, and showed her age, and reminded me of mine. While spotting it, I was reminiscent of my youth with my Pappy (Grandfather) who taught me to fish in a boat much like this, and after much negotiation, would let me take the controls and experience true freedom on the water.

Anyway, snapped a (terrible) image of it with a phone, and figured it would be a good distraction for a few moments of your time.

My guess would be circa late 50's perhaps early to mid 60's, however I may be off by a decade.

Very nice find! Unusual to see a speedboat without hard chines though.

Looks like an old Whirlwind I think they were called. Good find for someone.
