I had my AC fans replaced a few months back. The installer has the fans turned way up even on slow speed. He had told me he could turn it back down if it was too noisy and it is. Does anyone know how to turn the fan motor speed down? Trying to do it without having him come back to boat.
    Thanks

The fan speed settings can be changed in the digital display. Look up the owners manual for your make and model display and the instructions for how to change the fan speed settings will be in there.

Look for a depiction of fan blades on the thermostat display. Depending on the type of display you will probably push the depiction and #s will show in the digital display 1,2, up to 5(fastest). On many units it may automatically go to 5 when started if there is a big diference between the temp setting and the real temp. Again just dial it down.

Sorry guys I did not explain it very well. Sure I know all about the thermostat control and the fan speed. The fan speed is set as low as it will go on the thermostat but it is still blowing alot of air and relatively noisy. These fans blow alot of air. The installer said there is an adjustment on the fan motor, if the fan was too high on low he could turn it down. Thats what I'm trying to do.

It all depends on the brand and type of controls you have. Presuming you have a digital display, you can go into the programming mode and set both high and low fan speeds that can definitely quiet things down when at low speed. There is a danger of not moving enough air over the coils and freezing them up so you can't run them down too far. The manuals for the displays should have instructions on how to enter the programming mode and you can listen while you adjust the speed. Try starting out with the speed just low enough to be tolerable but still be able to feel airflow from the discharge vents.

Thanks Bill I do have a digital display. I had the new fan motors installed a few months back and at low fan speed it is substancially higher than what the boat was when new. Will check out the programming mode. Thanks

No problem! Most likely the installer reset everything back to factory defaults so you might have to also reset compressor start-up delays (if done at all). I always stagger them 10 seconds apart so they all don't try to ramp up at the same time after changing over from shore to genset. We always remote the temp sensing button to ambient air (in a shaded area to keep sunlight from throwing the readings off!), instead of the front of the coils so you don't have to run the fans continuously. Default is fan always on, but can be changed to only on when compressor is running. That yields even less fan noise as they aren't running constantly.
If they are brand "C" I usually set the low fan speeds somewhere around a value of 25. Haven't had any freeze up problems so far, knock wood!
