Getting ready to take my first trip on my 1987 3607 I just purchased and was curious if anyone had any info on GPH and at what RPM's? I have no history from the previous owner so any info is welcome.
Hi, This has been asked before: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/carver-yacht/13728-carver-36-aft-cabin.html
K1W1 if the boat in the avatar is the one we're talking about in that link. That's a 3608 the 3607's replacement. Been running my 3607 now for 4 yrs. hull speed 7.5 knots 16 knots best spots I've found. The engines port standard stbd is counter rotation. Don't shut one down to try to save gas you won't. You'll over work the running one and wear yourself out steering her. I've been thru my boat stem to stern so ask anything you want. And her real daft with all tanks loaded is 3'4" to the bottom of the rudders....and you'll love the boat, ours is also an 87' with 454 Merc's and 6.5 onan...
Appreciate the info. I read the thread mentioned above so with that and comments here it gets me in the ballpark. If I found out anything different on my trip I'll post it. Thanks
I own a 1990 Carver 36 and found the sweet spot to be about 2200 rpm, 10.1 mph. On a recent trip down river I got 1.4 mpg. Mine has twin 454 merc cruisers turning 4 blade 22x22 props.
Hi, Have you made any allowance in that figure for any push either with or against your direction of travel by the river itself?
Yes. The good news is we are going down river. The bad news is that doesn't mean much since the river is low for the winter and there is little to no current.
