I would like any information/feedback good or bad from any current owners/ captains/ crew of pacific mariner 85. My boss is looking into them as well as some other builders and would like to hear from some outside sources not brokers how boat performs, functions etc. Anything good or bad will be helpful! Thanks!

It's 2022, 15 years after the start of this thread.

This applies to the newer version of the PM85:
Happen to notice the engine room was rearranged in either hull 8517 or 8518.
Fuel tanks outboard of the engines were moved to the ER fwd bulkhead forming one large tank. Generators moved from aft of engines to side of the engines. Why was this done, must be something with the CG?
Any knowledgeable PM85 operators out there could provide some insight.

    Thanks

PS fuel went from 2325 gals to 2600-2680 gals

There were other changes made too including slight hull modifications. The change was part of a plan of general upgrading of the 65 and 85. As it happened, there was a fire in the plant where those two were built and the mold for the old destroyed so the change was expedited. Overall the changes appear minor, but there is slight improvement in many areas including ride and performance. Westport has made similar changes along the way to other boats including both the 112' and the 130'.

Can't look at one item such as the generators or fuel tanks in isolation. What you had was a very nice boat. Then you had an even nicer boat. There was one slightly negative impact, the air draft required increased slightly. The redesign was by Westport with heavy influence and in put from Greg Marshall. Marshall is noteworthy as his first design project for William Garden was to work on the 65. Garden designed both the 65 and 85 and other Westport boats and Marshall has continued the work over the years and holds to the same principles. He's continued to help on their new designs including the 117 and 172.
