I am new to this forum. I see some info on side windows leaking, and mine are no different, I amlooking to replace with tinted safety glass(dark limo tint) I was wondering how the present glass comes out. I do have to repair the wood under the track, maybe replace. I am not sure what has to be removed to get the glass(has original three piece with sliders) thanks UMPA
I have a late 80's 46 and the salon windows dont leak. And they open! They arent sealed shut I dont know why they dont leak. But the tracks and drains are clear and clean. I had another boat with leaky salon windows. I cleaned the tracks and drain and they wouldnt leak until the drain and tracks got clogged with debris I recommend starting simple before you rip the windows out and replace. Somewhere on this site there is a Post Owner who replaced his salon windows with one piece of tinted lexan. good luck
Hi, On a 1980, 46, the windows come out fairly easily. Begin by getting furnature and tables out of the way in the salon. Remove ceiling access panels, if you have them, This allowas you to remove the wooden valence along the top border of the window. I think there is another piece between the window and the valance. All of these peices are screwed into place and come out pretty fast. The base, where the tracks are, does'nt need to be removed to get the windows out. If it's not damaged, sealing the wood with something like West System on the wood in the track area is a good idea. It's not a bad job. Good luck.
