I am restoring my 46' Steel Roamer and making great progress. It has 1978 454 Crusaders. One of the Steel Exhaust "boxes" is leaking -- i am going to take it out and try and weld it. Has anyone replaced these with modern fiberglass ones? If so what would be your recommendations?

    many thanks

Exhaust box? Could it be the muffler?
Chris used cast iron mufflers in the old Commanders. Wonder if this is what your looking at. Can you post a pic?
Also pics of the area you have to work with.

The Glass mufflers will work better hands down. I did replace replace that Comander's Mufflers with glass tubes.
Call these kids with the engine specs, size hose you want to stay with and area you have to work with.

Great support and great to work with. Purchase directly or at West Marine.

I'm not sure, I don't think that is stock. At least not for gas engines.
