You might try a call to the factory.
    They are usually pretty helpful.

Welcome to YachtForums SKOOB. I think 1977 was the last of the wood/glass. The early 42's only go to 1983. After that it became the 43.

Hi Skoob - I know this reply is late but I can report on what I know about my 1976 42. The deck and house are all glass except for the aft bulkheads. Lots of balsa core so you can have wet core issues to deal with. I had to replace most of the core on my flybridge deck for instance.

If my '76 is any indication (hull #38) the wood deck/house on glass hull boats are older than mine.

    1980 42

Hey guys after a year of searching I finally settled on a 1980 42 and so far I am very happy with, the original owner took care of her and put a lot into her. However the forward salon windows on both sides are cracked, they have been joined together with poly between each window to make them 1 piece and are sealed in (did a nice job). What I want to know is how big of a job is it to remove the glass to replace the 2 forward sections? Seems like most of the boats I looked had had the same issue with the forward sections cracked.

Hi Skoob, congrats on the boat.
    I've got a 1980, 46.
I took the windows out to replace the track many years ago.
It was not a basd job.
In the 46 I had a couple access panels in the ceiling along the valence that I removed.
Then the valance had to come down.
Then there was another section of wood the length of the window that held the window in place.
All of this was screwed into place and not a problem to dis-assemble.
My mistake was not putting one solid piece of window back.
Instead I had 6 pcs tinted and re-installed everything.
It never occured to me to put one solid pc back.
Next time I'll go to one pc.

Overall a pretty simple job that is easier if you have an extra pair of hands to help.

    Good luck.
