A friend asked for power recommendations for a 2010 Henriques 42'. He's looking for a 25 kt cruise speed, 350nm range, 660 gal tankage. Any suggestions?

    Ed,
You know I give great caution before I give a recommendation for a boat.

Is the boat a new build?

    How 'fishie' is the owner?

As a standard Henriques hull, what works best for them?

Are you going to fishFish or do a bit of cruising too?

    Hey Fish,
DK the owner, but the cap is very fishie so I'd assume that will be the prime purpose. It's a new build so choices are wide open.

I'd be looking at 8.3 liter Cummins, the 490hp rating should be more than enough, I'd also consider using the Zeus pods with it but I'd want more info on their reliability before pulling that trigger.

The QSC cummins has given me nothing but headaches. Use the QSM for this job with CONVENTIONAL STRAIGHT SHAFTS.

What kind of problems has the QSC been giving you?

I have never fished with zues or IPS, but would not recommend IPS with the underwater exhaust, it really tears up the transom wake for fishing. I know that Cabo Zues has logged over 400 hours completely trouble free. The 40' Cabo Zues cruises at the same 30knots with 600hp zues drives as the same boat with 800hp MANS, with the zues it burns 45gph at 30knots, versus 60gph with the MANS
