My wife and I are summer liveaboards in the Green Bay area and have a problem with mold in the window tracks of our 1976 Catalina. Is there an easy way to remove the windows? Can we purchase the seal material anywhere? Look forward to discussions in the future.

    Mold in window tracks

We have owned a 1979 moldel of the same boat since 2004 and have the same problem. I have yet to solve it. I will be interested in any ideas that are present.

    Thanks

Mold is, of course, a living organism. Unfortunately, killing it is problematic in areas that you can't use bleach or something similiar. I would try squirting in a mild mix of TSP and a littttttle bit of bleach in a spray bottle from the dollar store. If you can sufficiently poison the environment the mold lives in it will die. I understand your pain, the probably cause is a bunch of crap that has built up in the seal that is providing the medium for the mold.
