Just found in my inventory a new Raritan / Crown, 4032F-3 battery charger - converter. I thought it was a 24v charger when I was reaching for it to sell. I know there are still some hardened 32v boat owners out there who could use some help. The pictures show some stains on the face. These are storage stains from sitting on the bottom of piles for a few years in a couple of my shops. I'm thinking around $300 plus shipping. Mind you, it is heavy. I can take offers or trade. Local pick up in Zip 32189. L45 manual is found here; https://www.raritaneng.com/en/tech-support/owners-manual-exploded-parts-view-promos
I purchased a 46 bertram that still has the 32 volt system. Both converters are shot. Am debating on whether to keep as is or go to 24 volts. 32 volt equipment is hard to come by. My units are exactly the same as yours.
There are two models of these chargers. Model B and F. My Bertram has the B model. Think I bought the last Regulator module from Raritan 17 years ago. The F is a simple design and could be repairable. To help identify your model, manuals are found here; https://www.raritaneng.com/en/tech-support/owners-manual-exploded-parts-view-promos Scroll down to L45 & L46 Converters. Changing to a 24V system is doable but pretty expensive all at once. Every light, potable pump, bilge pump, blower, alternator, starter, trim tab pump, anchor windlass and head (maybe more) have to be changed out. Don't think about a 12V system, wires are just not large enough for the current they must carry. I recommend keeping a 32Vdc system and shop & stock 32V spares. As you continue your romance with the ole Bertram, you can make 24Vdc buses from the third battery (of four) and slowly convert items to 24V. Leave high current items for last in the conversions. Nobody keeps 32v stuff on their shelf. This is why you need a spare inventory. It sux when something fails and you need to order it a wait days for it to come in. I just walk into my shop and pick it out of a bin. New or used, shopped for at better prices, tested and stored well.
Thru the years, I and many here on YF have worked with 32V systems. It is a new way of thinking but you get used to it and it becomes as normal as your cars 12V stuff after a while. Just keep open searches on e-bay. Bought my last 32v potable pump from Amazon also. Oh, don't get confused with 36V stuff. It's out there as with 48V.
I plan on keeping the 32 volt system. Not sure If I have the B or F type. The boat is an 85 model. Recently purchased and in the yard doing hull work. The 32 volts consists of 2 8d 12v and 1 golf cart 8v in series. can't be right. I am going to install 4 - 8volt on each side to at least have compatible batteries. I am interested in your converter.
