The 2011 edition of the Dubai International Boat Show started today. It runs until the 5th of March. There is an interesting 60-meter new build there called the "Sharjah 1". Anyone at the show are welcomed to post pictures or information relevant to the show!
Dubai Show Sorry for the quality of these pictures, I now have a lot of respect for the guys on this forum who take shots at the US shows, you guys have talent! But I hope these give the general idea. MY Sharjah at the Dubai Boat Show. They are advertising that it was built at the Riviera Pool facility which is in the Northern Emirates, it might have been finished there but I think it was built somewhere else.
Show is pretty quiet, there is only this and the Trinity Red Sapphire here as opposed to last year when we had yachts from Lurssen, West Port, Feadship, Hanseatic and Oceanfast. Numbers are certainly down. Will get more pics tomorrow. Merc SLR Sterling Moss was very cool!
That's quite a bow on (I guess it's) the Red Saphire. Looks like an overgrown speedboat. Sexy! Speaking of sexy, nice SLR. Silver is fine for me if anyone's feeling generous. Good shots Deckies Feet. It looks like you worked to get some of them. I'm a bit surprised by the low representation at the show. I'd heard that that end of the market was doing fairly well.
This is a show I would love to attend one year. Thanks for posting the pics and info. This past year (I think) I saw pics of either a diagram or an artists rendering of an F1 track interlaced with the marina, again, I think it was Dubai but I may be mistaken. My joyful heart skipped a beat recalling Monaco when the two meet there.
The boat with big bow is a random one off from this area not Trinity’s Red Sapphire (poor pic below), Yard is called Aycer Yachts. Went on board and was quite impressed with quality. Some strange ideas for tender launching and a teak’d area in front of the bridge windows but not bad for a first build. The guy running the project is a Belgium chap will find out who he is. Boat is based in Kuwait and allegedly has been on generators for last year due to not having 3phase power! Does anyone have an idea of what Sharjah 1 was or is, looks like an older Italian yacht that has been finished here.
This end of the market does seem to be doing well especially with clients from this region. Problem lies in the geographical location and the risk of getting your yacht here. Normally lots of yachts here warming up for Abu Dhabi show, but not the case this year. Thanks for positive comments, took advantage of friends yachts to get up higher will do again today but weather is pretty overcast and windy.
I guess that model photo of "Musashi" definitely shows that...two large tenders will be on her stern...which explains the huge cranes in that area that we saw in previous photos in the Musashi thread.
The 60 meter Sharjah 1 was built by RIVIERA BOATS/M.E.S. SHIPYARDS in the Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. As per correspondence from Riviera June of 2010... reads as follows: RIVIERA BOAT (INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENT CO LLC), UNITED ARAB EMIRATES A pioneer in the use of GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) for boats and swimming pools, Riviera today produces high-quality GRP composite products that can be used for various purposes and functionalities. We are a group company consisting of the following four specialty companies: -Riviera Boat: We produce functional boats for various purposes, with at least one Riviera boat on each GCC coast. -Riviera Yacht: We create luxury yachts, which we have kick-started with the Integrity signature series -Riviera Yard and Maintenance: We have a large facility at the Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, where we build, maintain and repair boats.
MY Sharjah I MY Sharjah I with steel hull and aluminium superstructure was constructed and built in 2008 at MES Shipyard in the Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah. In 2009 our company did all the fairing and painting works incl. application of antifouling. We completed the yacht in 2010 with some minor touch ups and repair works in 2010 at Rivera Boats, also located in the Hamriyah Free Zone/Sharjah U.A.E. Paint system was Jotun. It was a hell of a job, with sometimes very difficult working conditions and outside temperatures up to 50°C, but we think she turned out alright and we were really proud to see her at the Dubai Boatshow this year.
