Hi, While the reduction in size of the memory disks (not a spelling mistake) etc is not surprising, you give no reference for the time difference, other than the title- the same could easily be given for a Valve vs a Transistor plus there are probably EPROMS and EEPROMS today with more than a Gb of capacity.
I remember when a room full of IBM reel tape machines had less memory then an SD card in a digital camera. It's simply astonishing how technology has grown... and shrunk. Much like my own memory!
Punch tape? Reel Tape Machines? Im a little confused, perhaps you guys could explain what these are for the younger generations reading... Dan
The speed of progress can be truly alarming at times. Did you know that the technology we will all be using in five years time, has not been invented yet? In other words, the idea has not yet pooped into someone's brain!
i'd have liked to live in the time, when Punched cards where invented - if i'd had money then i'd have invested in ibm and microsoft for those who don't know em: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card
