We just replaced a frozen mid bilge pump that had been popping the mid bilge 7.5a breaker on the cockpit. We can not turn the bilge pump on with the mid bilge pump switch at the helm. The circuit breaker for the mid bilge pump on the 12volt panel in the salon seems to be on.
Does anyone know how the mid bilge pump switch at the helm gets is power???

    Hi,

Is the Bilge Pump float switch controlled and in a dry bilge?

The bilge pump works with the float switch. However; the mid bilge switch at the helm is suppose to override the float and turn the bilge pump on 9like the aft bilge switch does), but it does not????

If you've got a 12 VDC tester you could see if the switch at the helm is still operational.

Then test for 12VDC at the pump with the switch "on".

You could also swap the Mid Bilge Switch with the Aft Bilge Switch ( or just swap the load wires ) to see if the problem follows the switch or stays with the pump.

If it stays with the pump, and there is voltage through the switch, you'll need to start tracing wires, looking for a corroded connection or an open non-connection.

    Good luck.
