This has to be simple but its driving me nuts.
Trying to figure out a starting circuit. Boat has a PCM 351 Ford motor.
Starter with a separate solenoid burned up and a guy I know has an electrical repair business, autos, boats, RV's etc. got me a replacement one with a solenoid on the starter.
Anyway he says just use the old solenoid as a terminal block. Put both big primary wires on one big stud, and both little white wires on one little stud. No go. Now, next to the old solenoid there is a 50 amp circuit breaker which has a #10 red wire landed on the battery side of the old solenoid.
No matter how I swap these wires around it won't start. I've even just connected the wires together with bolts and left the old solenoid out of the equation. Nada. Does the circuit breaker need to be wired into this somehow?

    Any help would be appreciated
