When things slow down at work I try to get a few more things done on the old girl. Recent progress includes some new wallpaper; new countertop/sink/fixture/cabinet/light in head; relocated & new door knobs/hinges plus added locker vents to all doors; new drawer pulls; new top for port fuel tank (the one between the engines); replaced the starboard J & T heat exchanger with a new Lenco (port engine done last year.)

The heat exchanger was the biggest job by far but the engines are much happier with the Lenco coolers. Had to replace the old fuel cooler with a dual unit for both fuel and gear oil since the old J & T tank had the gear oil cooler in the bottom of the tank. I fabricated the mounting bracket and replaced most of the hoses in the process of setting up the new plumbing arrangement. The old J & T heat exchangers were marginal at best in the bathtub warm summer gulf so the new Lencos are worth the trouble and expense.

    Here's a few photos...

Nice looking work! When I refit a 1981 Post 42 a few years back, I was shocked by the number of door/drawer pulls on that boat. As I recall, it was over 30 of them.

I replaced my cast iron heat exchangers about two years ago with the Lenco units.
it was the best move I had ever made and I wished I'd done it years ago.
    Your 6-71 looks brand new.
